Recently I read an article about Ground Cover Roses, and it occurred
to me that they have been largely ignored by many gardeners. This
is a shame as they are the easiest of all roses, and often give the
greatest rewards. They need very little pruning - just a light 'haircut'
after they have finished flowering, maybe a hard prune down to 20
cm to refresh them every few years.
Give them a little food and water in Spring and Summer, and you can
look forward to months of flowers on a spreading low shrub. They are
very resistant to the usual diseases which effect roses, and can make
the most mundane bank/driveway/retaining wall, look absolutely fantastic!
