Here are some basic Q&A pinters for those who enjoy a garden
that has more than one point to it.
- Do Succulents need a great deal of sunlight?
- Contrary to the ongoing belief that succulents throive only
in direct sunlight, most succulents will not thrive and survive
in direct sunlight or with the hottest temperatures or fullest
sun exposure. Although they appreciate a good deal of light most
actually require some form of sun protection. This is especially
in areas where the temperature can reach the 90 degree mark or
hotter.
- How close should I plant my succulents together?
- When spacing your succulents apart it is generally agreed that
here should be 1/2 inch to 1 inch (13mm to 25mm). This is regardless
if you are planting them other similar plants or in pots. If planting
within pots be sure to give them 1/2 inch space from the edges.
- How do I amend my succulent soil?
- Regarding the soil needed to ensure healthy succulents, a quick
draining soil is really important. Ordinary potting soil mix can
be amended by adding coarse sand or gravel. It is adviced that
after potting a succulent you wait two to three days before giving
them a thorough
- How often should indoor succulents be watered?
- With regards to watering succulents indoors the adage Less is
More comes into play. A basic guideline is every 7-14 days in
the warmer months of the year and 3-4 weeks through the colder
months of the year. It is important to allow the soil to dry out
between waterings.
