Review:
Another Max Lucado book and another chance to sit back and delve into
some deep and meaningful theology. Admittedly, I enjoy an author who
can poke fun at themselves. Such as comparing their book to ten heavy
stones. Or deferring to them as being suitable for insomnia.
In the Grip of Grace, we journey through concepts that remind us of
how amazing Gods Grace is. How God is reaching out to each of us,
seeking to embrace and enfold us in a Grace that is complete and unwavering.
Like many other books that Max Lucado has written (and I have enjoyed
reading) this one can now join the ranks of those in my library.
If (though a smallish if) there were an area I'd like to chat with
Max about, it would be a section regarding prisoners and release from
prison. Found in part three and entitled Grace Works. In this section
there is a reasonable question put forward. One that asks why a prisoner
who has been set free choose to return to the confinements of the
prison walls. Sadly this misses or overlooks the concept of co-dependency.
Many prisoners have become institutionalised. From many years behind
bars and in constant communion with others who tend to hold them down;
they find comfort and acceptance in the last place anyone would expect.
Perhaps this is an area that can be explored in some depth. Hey, Max
are you hearing me?
