Message:

'Death and life are in the power of the tongue'
Read James 3:1-12

As Christians we at times forget that our words still have bite. How often have we heard someone say something at Church that could be taken two ways. Perhaps the person speaking was feeling threatened. Or just didn't like or accept a new challenge.

I personally enjoy cooking. And will try my hand at many new recipes. But sadly have found resistance at Church. From women who deem my efforts less then acceptable. The pain I feel is numbed by the thought that these are fellow Christians who are looking down their noses at me.

I know for my part I will not allow this to upset me to the point of stopping what I enjoy. But I do feel sad for others who have felt the sharp barbs of an indiscreet Christian tongues.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus,

My tongue betrays my ego.
And reveals at times I forget myself.
I pray that the Spirit of love,
will filter my words and thoughts.
So that I may reflect
your accepting love in all things.

Amen
