"There is a divine beauty in the grand design that evades the grandest of intellectual faculties."

MJ Flack

Reference: Genesis: 1:11-12

"And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. "

"And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good."

Reflections:

We as a society have become rather arrogant and pompous. We now claim to know the Genetic Code to Life itself. And yet we treat life so cheaply. We create thousands of chemical cures. And yet wash over the side affects and costs involved. True we may have longer life spans. But really at what cost? How many third world countries are now being help to ransom by the World Bank before they are allowed these miracle cures?

Throughout history, the Healer and the Healers Art has always been one that was highly regarded. Today we have the Doctors Hippocratic Oath. And long terms for those who wish to train in the medical profession. Yet sadly what we call the 'Bedside Manner' is lacking in many physicians. Who act more like distributors for pharmaceutical companies; then as Physicians of body and mind.

Perhaps what we need to do is to remember that Medicine is one of the oldest professions. One that has it's very knowledge and foundations rooted in both Faith and the very Earth itself. That God made all that we have. And that every herb and plant was created with a unique use. And that as we are told "and God saw that it was good".

A return to the old ways with a renewed respect for God and his creation the Earth would be a great place to start. Perhaps when we take steps back to where it all began, we can then start taking steps forward.

Prayer:
Lord, you who created the Earth.
Lord, you who placed breathe in my body.
Lord, you who hold the mysteries of life.

I pray that my heart will always be directed towards you.
That my thoughts will always be learning your ways.
And that my actions may always reflect your love.

Teach me to respect the Earth for all it's goodness.
And to see the bountiful goodness of the plants you created.
Learning to use them to heal and nurture those in need.

I pray these things in your Loving name.
Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen
