"We live in a difficult, fragile, shifting World. Where peace of mind can be bought at a price. But usually comes with a limited Warranty. And seldom gives true lasting peace."

MJ Flack

Scripture: John 14:27(NIV)

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

Meditation

How often the World we live in fills our hearts and Minds with dreadful images. Fearful visions of a devastating future. War and Famine, Bloodshed and Corruption. These things are served up to us each day through the Mass Media that feeds or inner fears. Leaving us weak and disorientated.

Yet we have a foundation that is stronger then the greatest of these. We have an inner place where we can find Peace of Mind. A comforter and friend who can show us the truth. Show us an assurance that can bring a stillness of soul that nothing else can.

In our World, our Society, we are sold many substitutes for this Inner Peace. Everything from the latest drugs to the latest Get Fit Get Rich Scheme. And none of this is permanent. None come with a guarantee of eternal satisfaction. Such are the answers the Physical World offers at a price.

We live in a World of Duality. We live in a World that is of course Physical. We feel things. We hurt and bleed. And we constantly seek warmth and comfort for this transient vessel we call our body. Yet we also live in a World of Spiritual Realities. Where Spiritual Forces compete. Both for Good and Evil. And it is in this World that we can be hurt the deepest. Scars that can last all of eternity. It is in this World that we need to seek the reassuring Peace and Love that Jesus Christ offers each of us. On a very personal and unique bases.

There are many who would muse and ask "What makes a Christian so special?". And point out that most Christians do not have a Fairy Tale life. That many are persecuted and suffer great pains. Yet this observation is not Biblical. Nor is it correct. Jesus promised that he would give us peace. Not an easy way out. Not some mystic 'Get out of Jail Free" card. He promised us Peace in the assurance of his abiding love. In the full knowledge that this painful physical World is only temporary. And that we are destined for greater things.

This doesn't make the Christian a Fatalist though. A Fatalist may look at life and say "whatever happens happens and I have no control". While a Christian will look at life and say with conviction "Nothing happens by accident, when we practice the Presence of Jesus in our lives.".

Prayer:

Lord of Love,
Lord of Peace,
Lord of Eternity,
I seek you in the quietness of my soul.

Your embrace,
Your sanctuary,
Your presence,
Are the things I seek in this time of prayer.

Teach me,
Lead me,
Encourage me,
As I travel down life's road with you.

On my way to the Cross.

Amen
