Scripture:
15: And if it seem evil unto you to serve Jehovah, choose you
this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods whom your fathers
that were on the other side of the river served, or the gods of
the Amorite, in whose land ye dwell; but as for me and my house,
we will serve Jehovah.
Joshua 24:15
(JDV)
67: Jesus therefore said to the twelve, Will ye also go away?
68 Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast
words of life eternal; 69 and we have believed and known that
thou art the holy one of God.
John 6:67-69
(JDV)
Reflection:
There are many challenges that are outlined in the Bible. But
perhaps in this Post Modern World the most striking and difficult
is to whom we will follow. Will we follow the many gods of convenience
and fleshly desires? That are constantly on offer. Or will we
do as Joshua states in the Old Testament;
"but as for me and my house, we will serve Jehovah."
Or as the Disciples who responded the the Lords question;
"68: Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go?
thou hast words of life eternal; 69 and we have believed and known
that thou art the holy one of God."
We have a strong image of who God is and where we fit into the
Eternal Plan as designed by God. There are plenty of books that
explain how we are not created by either an accident or pure chance.
That the God of creation has known of our creation well before
we were even conceived. It is our calling in life to seek for
to re-establish our relationship with God. Then to seek to know
his divine will and purpose in our lives. To fulfil his Holy Plan.
As expressed we have plenty of smaller choices in life. Deciding
such menial things as to what job to pursue. Which lifestyle leisure
activities to invest time and interest. But none of these will
have the same impact as the question of who we will follow. Or
in other words, what we will do with the Grace and Salvation offered
to us through the person of Jesus Christ.
So do we follow the one who created you? or do you follow the
things of the World which are transient and passing? Are we going
to seek after those things that are unique and special in the
eternal realm? Or do we accept those things that are so common
as to created by mans limited imagination?
As the Web Master and Creator of this Website it is my joy and
strength to repeat the words of Joshua;
"(I) will serve Jehovah." Indeed there is no other choice
but to follow my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Seeking each day
new ways I can serve him. Learning anew the truths and purposes
he has for me.
Prayer
My Lord and my Saviour,
This day I choose to follow you.
In your truth and majesty,
In your peace and grace,
In your love and salvation;
May my words and actions,
shine through me and out,
Into a World dark and lonely,
In need of you redemption,
In need of the gift you holdout.
I pray these things in your name,
My truest closest friend,
Jesus Christ.
Amen
