Overview and Review:
Madame Pamplemousse and her incredible edibles tells the story of a young girl called Madeline, who is staying with her horrible uncle in Paris. She is a dish washer in his restaurant the squealing pig and isn't allowed to cook even though she is very good. Wile her cranky old uncle is a terrible chef. Perhaps not even good enough to be called a cook. Yet he has bullied the chefs in his restaurant into fearful submission. Where no one ever argues with him.

Monsieur Lard: Is an overweight porky man who is terrible at cooking. He tends to over cook all his food and then drench it in fat and grease. He is Madeline's cruel and crude uncle.

Mademoiselle Madeline: is the true protagonist and heroine in the story. She is able to learn courage and to stand on her own two feet. She wonders into Madame Pamplemousse's small out of the way shop.

Madame Pamplemouuse: Owns a shop with culinary wonders and fancies. Things such as Pterodactyl Bacon, Scorpion Tails in Smoked Garlic Oil, and Great Squid Tentacle in Jasmine-Scented Jelly.

Camembert: Is a very clever and mysterious white cat with a patch over an eye he had lost in an epic fight. The others who were involved apparently fared worse then he did.

Monsieur Langoustine: A somewhat renowned food expert who had an equally mysterious personality. If he likes your food he won't say much. Though if he doesn't like it you'll never hear the end of it.

End of Spoilers

I have enjoyed this book and would happily recommend it for any young reader. As for the recipes? If given the chance I would love to try making them. All I need now is a bigger kitchen and access to some of the more unique ingredients.
